Car technology trend heading to Euro 6 standards
Despite the development of automotive technology today lead to electrification, but the motor fuel, like petrol and diesel engines will remain dominant in the next few years. That is the conclusion made by the world automobile components manufacturer.
Some of the company is intensively introduce and develop technology engine components, transmissions and other parts of the vehicle.Consumption & Emissions.
The main target component manufacturers are trying to make products that can meet the standards in accordance with regulations made by the government. For example, the European Union has agreed, Euro6 already applied to cars being produced from 1 September 2014. A year later, all new vehicles must meet these standards.
European standards are too high and still far from perfect. But certainly, Euro6 have been “forced” and automobile component manufacturers to create trends of automotive technology.
Obviously, the target to be achieved is to decrease emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas that causes the greenhouse effect or global warming, nitrogen oxides (NOx). With the decline in emissions, fuel consumption is also becoming more efficient.
Product or critical components that have been developed is fuel supply system (pump), injection systems, engine management (engine control unit or ECU), transmission, sensors and actuators.
Because there are several components that are being developed, this article was written in several series. The first part is about the fuel pump to work according to the needs of the machine.
Fuel pump.
The Efforts to reduce CO2 emissions has begun to put gas in the tank. However, these pumps work at constant speed to supply gasoline to the engine (injectors).
Now, the pump is designed to work in accordance with the requirements or engine working conditions. Like example, when the vehicle is constant (stationary) or running low, the pump down cycle. The goal is to save energy. Conversely, if you want fast, turn the pump up or to work faster and supply so much more amount of fuel.
For this, some factory develop complement pump with a control chip works. Chip mounted on the flange in the gas tank and can be used to control the working of pumps that works with AC current or DC.
This chip will then communicate with management systems (computers) to determine the condition of the engine machine work and then used as parameters control the speed of the pump. More precisely, the work adapted to the needs of the pump engine.
According to Continental, this method can reduce one or two grams of CO2 per km. This was achieved because the electrical power usage is lower. Remarkably again, designed for gasoline and diesel engines.
